Our First Event in the Reading Series at The Lit was a Hit!
David Cope and Melissa Wray at The Lit November 13, 2025
We had a great time at the first event in our reading series at The Lit. The Lit is a great partner and the space was built for just such an event. We were lucky to capture a lot of media with great photos from Heather Krystecki and great audio from the soundboard at The Lit.
Here’s a roundup of just some of the media that came from the evening:
The stage was set up perfectly for our particular needs.
Grand Rapids Poet Laureate Christine Stephens-Krieger was our host/MC for the evening.
Through a combination of jawbone, lavalier, and a mic stand, we got through our complicated audio requirements without a hitch thanks to Mike at The Lit! Thanks to him, we were able to capture audio of the readings with great fidelity.
You can listen to the featured readings below:
The book signing was a great time to hobnob.
We had a full deck for the open mic.
Cameo by Neil Kaufman’s Jungle Gyms for Monkey Minds which made it’s first public appearance at the event.
A couple readings from the open mic:
So many other good things:
Neil stayed busy signing copies of his new book Jungle Gyms for Monkey Minds.
We created new bookmarks.
We had a book table with titles exclusively from local authors.
You can find all of these titles in our store.
Penny came up with a menu just for the event!
Some photos that feature the beautiful location at the Ladies’ Literary Club, now managed as The Lit by Pennyloafer.
The room was full of great hats!
There was a great turn out and we hope to see things just keep growing as the series continues throughout 2026. We have plans for 12 more readings in 2026!
Our next event will be December 11. Come enjoy some poetry!
